Prepare a useful RFQ
Provide the model, controlling drawing, revision, material, finish, quantity breaks, delivery location and requested date. Identify which requirements are fixed and where alternatives are welcome.
Separate the model from the specification
A CAD model describes geometry. The drawing or specification may control tolerances, material, surface finish, treatment and inspection requirements. Keep them at the same revision.
Give prototypes a test plan
Write down what the prototype must prove. A form model, functional build and production pilot may use different materials and processes.
Review the full quote
Check scope, assumptions, tooling ownership, quantity, lead time, inspection documents and delivery terms. Resolve mismatches before authorizing production.
