Tooling, minimum order quantities, lead time, quality documentation, freight and change responsiveness belong in the comparison. Quote assumptions should be visible.
Develop a second source
An alternative supplier needs more than a matching price. Establish capability, verify requirements, plan samples or first articles and agree release conditions.
Domestic and international options
Domestic sourcing can reduce some operational risks, while other requirements may call for a broader supplier search. Origin, availability and the production route are confirmed within the project.
